Badal to head police reforms Cabinet sub-committee

Chandigarh, Mar 6 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet today decided to set up a Cabinet sub-committee on police reforms.

This sub-committee would be headed by Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, who has been authorised to nominate other members of the Committee.

The committee has been empowered to decide and finalise the police reforms keeping in line with the judgment of the Supreme Court on police reforms in a writ petition (civil) filed by Mr Parkash Singh, a retired IPS officer, and others.

This decision was taken at the first meeting of the new Cabinet held here under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.

The previous Cabinet of Amarinder Singh had in its last meeting last month refered the police reforms issue to the next Cabinet.

BPCL to issue yatra slips for Mata Vaishnodevi pilgrimage

Jammu, Mar 6 (UNI) Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board (SMVSB) has roped in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) for issuing yatra registration slips through its outlets across the country, official sources today said. HP CM welcomes ban on forward trading in food items

Shimla, Mar 6 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today welcomed the Centre's decision to ban forward trading in wheat and rice and said it should also be extended to pulses to check rising prices of essential commodities. ''We welcome the ban on forward trading in wheat and rice and seek its extension to pulses. Banning export of wheat, rice and pulses and a cut in import duties should help in bringing down the prices of these items,'' he said.....

Srinagar, Mar 6 (UNI) Claiming that majority of the infrastructure damaged during the 17-year-long militancy in Jammu and Kashmir has been reconstructed, Minister for Works Gulchain Singh Charak said by 2009, all the far-flung and remote villages in the state will be connected by road.
