Air India CMD inaugurates Boeing 737NG Simulator

Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) Air India Chairman and Managing Director V Thulasidas today inaugurated the Boeing 737NG and Boeing 777 simulator at the domestic airport in Santacruz.

Mr Thulasidas said ''The inauguration of the Boeing 737NG Simulator marks a new beginning in the relationship between Air India and Alteon.'' ''We have been working with Alteon for months to develop and identify suitable training solutions for the new airplane. This is the first of the new simulators being installed in Mumbai, for which Air India will be providing certain backup facilities,'' he said.

He said the Boeing 737NG Simulator will facilitate in-house training for Air India pilots as well as for the pilots from other airlines. With this initiative, he hoped to further improve the efficiency of their pilot training. The agreement between Air India and Alteon will gradually be formalised into a joint venture in the future, he added.

Air India had signed an agreement for 68 new Boeing jets on December 30, 2005 which is the largest commercial airplane order in India's civil aviation history at a list price of nearly 11 billion dollars.

Alteon is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Boeing Company within Boeing Commercial Airplanes' Commercial Aviation Services group. The training organisation supports the world's aviation community with more than 70 full flight simulators in over 20 locations around the world.
