Absconding rape convict arrested

Kota, Mar 6 (UNI) A rape convict, who escaped from the central prison here in November last, has been arrested by the police in Jhalawar district.

According to the police, the convict, Prince, was serving a life term at the Kota Central Jail. Pleading illness, he got admitted at the prisoner's ward in MBS Hospital on November 26.

He fled from the prison by pushing the guard posted at the ward gate.

According to police sources, Prince was staying with another prisoner, Amit Jain, who had fled from Jhalawar jail. Amit reportedly sent Prince to collect arms and money from some place in Jhalawar.

On information, the police arrested Prince in Jhalawar and recovered a.315 bore rifle and a country-made pistol.

Detained Pak national arrested by Haryana police

Amritsar, Mar 6 (UNI) A detained Pakistani national was arrested by the Haryana Police and taken to Panipat for questioning in connection with the blasts on the Attari bound Samjautha Express last month. The Pak-national identified as Ajmal Ali was taken into custody by the Haryana Police yesterday evening on the orders of a local court. The Haryana Police after submitting the production warrants acquired from a Panipat court had contended before the local court that a criminal case was registered.....

Two held for attack on Raj minister

Jaipur, March 6 (UNI) Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria today stated in state Assembly that two people have been arrested in connection with the attack on sports minister Yunus Khan. Mr Kataria said the police have arrested Rajendra Surpura and Laxmikant Bharadwaj of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and are looking for others. Backward regions fund allocation increased to Rs 5800 crore

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today proposed to increase the allocation for Backward Regions Grant Fund to Rs 5800 crore from Rs 5000 crore. Presenting the 2007-08 Budget proposals in the Lok sabha Mr Chidambaram said this would finance two components- one pertaining to 250 districts and the other pertaining to special plan for Bihar.
