About 50 dalits stage protest in temple town

Tirupati, Mar 6 (UNI) Fifty Dalits and villagers today staged a protest at a 'delimitation commission' hearing chaired by justice Kuldeep Singh here.

District Collectors and officials from Rayalaseema and the Coastal districts of Nellore and Prakasam attended the meeting.

The Dalits, who were from Nellore assembly constituency also staged a dharna in front of the auditorium and demanded that the commission must retain the Nellore assembly constituency as an SC constituency.

The commission had earlier proposed to recognise Nellore as a general constituency.

They submitted a memorandum to the commission.

Some villagers from Srikalahasti constituency also staged a protest at the venue and demanded that B Kandriga mandal should be retained in the Srikalahasti and not in the Sathyavedu constituency segment as proposed by the commission.

Pondy ministerial staff to begin agitation Mar 8

At meeting of the coordination committee of the ministerial staffs here yesterday, it was noticed even after one year, the government failed to implement the promises given to them and decided to organise the agitation. Four nominations for council by-election in Bihar

Darbhanga, Mar 7 (UNI) Altogether four candidates today filed their nomination papers for Darbhanga graduate constituency by-election to be held on March 24. Today was the last day for filing the nomination papers. With this, altogether 13 candidates have filed their papers for the by-election. The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on March 8. Withdrawal of candidature will be permitted till March 10. The by-election is due to death of Congress member Nilambar Chaudhry. Spl train to Ahmedabad

Chennai, Mar 6 (UNI) Southern Railway will run a special train from Chennai Central to Ahmedabad on March 10 to clear extra rush of passengers. A press release from Southern Railway here today said the special will leave here at 1015 hours on March 10 and arrive in Ahmedabad at 2130 hours, the next day, the release added. UNI.....
