Aban gets $ 123 mln drilling contract

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Aban Offshore Ltd today said its subsidiary, Aban Abraham Pte Ltd, has entered into a drilling contract with affiliates of Addax Petroleum Corporation of Canada and China's Sinopec for deployment of the drillship -- Aban Abraham offshore West Africa.

The revenue expected from the above contract is 123 million dollars, which could increase to 246 million dollars if all the optional wells are declared, a statement said.

The contract will be performed in direct continuation of the contract announced earlier with Pioneer and Kosmos and is likely to commence after May 15, 2008.

The contract is for five firm wells and five optional wells.

The estimated duration of the contract is 300 days for the firm wells, which could go up to 600 days if the optional wells are declared.

UTI launches Gold Exchange Traded Fund in Bahrain

Dubai, Mar 6 (UNI) UTI Mutual Fund has announced the Bahrain launch of its UTI Gold Exchange Traded Fund, a first for the kingdom. ''This is an open-ended exchange traded fund designed to track the performance and yield of the gold,'' said UTI Asset Management Company Vice-President and Fund Manager Harsha Upadhyaya. The scheme will be invested in gold bullion and reflect the international price of gold in the market, he said adding that one unit of the fund would represent.....

Price rise to be checked without affecting growth: PM

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said his government was trying to bring down the prices of essential commodities without affecting the growth process. ''We are trying to control inflation while stimulating the growth impulses in our economy, though it was a difficult task,'' he told reporters in Parliament complex.
