UGC sanctions Rs 30.50 lakh to RSVP

Tirupati, Mar 5 (UNI) The University Grants Commission (UGC) has sanctioned Rs 30.50 lakh and two project fellowships to the Department of Sahitya of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) under its Special Assistance Programme (SAP).

RSVP Vice-Chancellor Hare Krishna Satapathy today said the Sahitya department was selected for SAP for a period of five years with effect from April one, 2007 to March 31, 2012.

The UGC had already released an amount of Rs 11 lakh as its first installment, he said and added that an advisory committee was constituted for effective implementation and monitoring of the programmes.

Mr Satapathy said the Vidyapeetha was planning to submit two more proposals on behalf of other departments, which have the potential for development, under the programme during the next academic year.

The UGC had also sanctioned an amount of Rs 20 lakh for up- gradation of computer centre at the Vidyapeetha, he added.

MK warns against attack on Indian fishermen by Lankan Navy

Govt increases DA of MCH employees

Hyderabad, Mar 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Koneru Ranga Rao today announced that the government had enhanced the Dearness Allowance (DA) of all categories of employees and officers working in the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) from 14.13 per cent of the basic pay to 18.84 per cent with effect from July 1, 2006.
