SVU to introduce new course from next academic

Tirupati, Mar 5 (UNI) Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) will introduce five-year integrated course in Chemistry from next academic year, SVU Vice-Chancellor S Jayarama Reddy said today.

Talking to UNI here, Mr Reddy, who recently completed two years at SVU as VC, said the already on five-year integrated course in Physics had received good response.

He said the University's Directorate of Distance Education would be strengthened further with the Rs 40 lakh fund received from the Distance Education Council(DEC).

Apart from introducing the earn-while-you-learn programme, the placement cells were also strengthened to help the students.

To impart soft skills to the students, he said the University campus provided the students internet facility and digital library.

He said the University was planning to start a centre for vocational courses and evening courses.

The University was also giving due importance to research projects in association with industries, reputed organisations and foreign universities, he added.

Anganwadi workers on fast

Puducherry,Mar 5(UNI)The anganwadi workers union today observed a fast in front of the Legislative Assembly today to press their demands. They were demanding among other things the reinstatement of aged persons who were terminated from service. They alleged the government had regularised the service of the anganwadi workers.However, within months of the regularisation, the services of a few workers were terminated citing old age,they claimed. Steel factory in HP soon, says Paswan

Nahan, Mar 14 (UNI) Union Steel, Fertiliser and Chemicals Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today said that a steel factory will be set up in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Builders' protest against govt's 'anti-development policies'
