Police bust Adivasi militant camp

Guwahati, Mar 5 (UNI) The police killed two ALNA militants, captured as many and recovered huge amounts of arms from the Betoni village near Sarupoathar.

The incident occurred last night when the securitymen busted a well fortified camp of the Adivasi Liberation National Army(ALNA.

Official sources today said all the militants were hiding near the house of Koka Turung in the village. There were more than 15 of them staying in the camp. The other militants, however, managed to give a slip in the night.

Police recovered one AK-47, one AK-56, one M-26 rifle, three Chinese grenades, four rifles and some mobiles from a gunny bag.

The militant outfit used the arms to kidnap people for extortion.

They have been terrorizing the tea executives and in the past few months they kidnapped three tea executives for extortion, the police stated.

Vijayakant's petition against defamation suit dismissed

Chennai, Feb 20 (UNI) Madras High Court today dismissed a petition by DMDK founder president and actor politician Vijayakant seeking to quash the defamation complaint by Minister and DMK Treasurer Arcot Veerasamy against him for alleged defamatory remarks against Chief Minister M Karunanidhi during the income tax raid on the actor. Planning Commission to fix Megh annual Plan tomorrow

Shillong, Mar 5 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister J D Rymbai today said the state government has proposed Rs 1.360 crore as its annual plan size for 2007-08.
