PM to inaugurate PSE conference on Mar 8

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate a conference of chief executives of public sector enterprises (PSEs) here on Thursday, and give away awards to NTPC, IOC, HAL and PowerGrid, among others.

The theme of the conference will be 'Empowering Public Sector for Growth'.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister will present 'SCOPE Awards for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to the Public Sector Management' and 'MOU Awards for Excellence in Performance'.

Among the recipients of MoU Awards for Excellence during 2005-06 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. and NTPC Ltd.

SCOPE Awards for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to the Public Sector Management in 2005-06 went to IOC Ltd. and National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd, among others.

The MOU Excellence Certificates will also be presented to the PSEs during the Session.

Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Sontosh Mohan Dev will also address the conference to be jointly organised by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) and the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE).

The Technical Session will be presided over by Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh, while management adviser M B Athreya will make the theme presentation.

Bihar's economy on way of tertiarisation

Patna, Mar 6(UNI) The economy of Bihar is witnessing a process of tertiarisation as the share of tertiary sector has increased from 41.3 per cent to 49 in the last decade as per the Economic Survey report,2007.
