MP bypolls: Lalu to canvass tomorrow

Bhopal, Mar 5 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad will drum up support for the Congress tomorrow, the last day of canvassing for the March 8 bypolls to two parliamentary constituencies and an assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh.

At 1000 hrs, he would address a public meeting in favour of Mr Sahib Singh Patel at Begumganj in Udaypura vidhan sabha constituency, a state Congress release said here. Mr Prasad would be accompanied by Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Personnel Suresh Pachauri.

A second meeting would be addressed at noon in Sidhi (ST) constituency's Singrauli. Mr Manik Singh is the Congress candidate from Sidhi. Mr Prasad would be accompanied by MLA and former minister Ajay Singh.

The last meeting is scheduled for 1500 hrs at Gwalior where Mr Ashok Singh is the party candidate. Mr Prasad would be accompanied by Congress state President Subhash Yadav. Canvassing would conclude at 1630 hrs.

Pepper price remains unstable: Spice Trade Association

Kochi, Mar 6 (UNI) The Indian Pepper and Spice Trade Association today cited that there was wide disparity between NCDEX and NMCE prices on pepper though both were trading on MG-1 quality pepper. In a statement here, Association President M L Parekh said NMCE was maturing on March 15 and NCDEX on March 20 but there was a price variation of Rs eight on the same grade of pepper to be delivered as MG-1. Eight nominations for council byelection in Bihar

Darbhanga, Mar 6 (UNI) Altogether eight candidates, including Congress and JD(U) nominees, today filed their nomination papers for Darbhanga graduate constituency byelection for the Bihar Legislative Council to be held on March 24. Filing of nomination would continue till tomorrow and the scrutiny will be held on March 8. Withdrawal of candidature is on March 10. SP announces new candidate for Khurja

Lucknow, Mar 6 (UNI) The ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) today announced a change in the candidature from Khurja Assembly constituency of the Bulandshahr district. Earlier, Suman Kumar Singh's name was announced by the party but now Virendra Pratap Singh Raghav will contest from 363-Khurja Assembly seat, SP general secretary and state PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav told mediapersons here. The decision was taken by SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. The seven-phase Assembly polls would commence April 7, 2007. UNI.....
