Law students injured in group clash, hospitalised

Kozhikode, Mar 5 (UNI) As many as ten students of Kozhikode Law College were injured in a group clash between rival student wings affiliated to different political parties in the campus here today.

The injured students -- six owing allegiance to Kerala Students Union-Muslims Students' Federation (KSU-IUML) combine and four Students Federation of India (SFI) activists -- were admitted to Kozhikode Medical College, police said.

Old enmity was said to be the reason behind the clashes, police said.

A case has been registered and investigation was on, they added.

Meanwhile, the Opposition United Democratic Front had called for a hartal in Kozhikode taluk tomorrow in protest against the attack on KSU-IUML activists.

Man held with fake passport

Chennai, Mar 5 (UNI) The Airport police today arrested a person for landing here with a fake passport from Jeddah, at Anna International Airport. Police said, the arrested Nazeer (32) of Thondarnadu in Kerala had left for Jeddah three years ago for a job. He arrived by a Kuwait Airlines flight and submitted his passport to the Immigration authorities, who found it to be fake on verification. Later, he was handed over to local police. BJP worker hacked to death, bandh called

Kannur, Mar 5 (UNI) A BJP worker was hacked to death at Thekke Panoor near Thalassery, about 40 Km from here, last night. The victim was identified as P Valsaraj Kurup (34), an advocate working in Thalassery Bar. A five-member gang allegedly attacked him in front of his house. He died on the way to hospital. Cops bust inter-state gang

Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) The city police busted an inter-state robbers gang with the arrest of six alleged history-sheeters here this morning. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhananjay Kamlakar told reporters that Detection of Crime Branch sleuths, on specific information, lay in wait near Chembur here and arrested the six. They had allegedly assembled at Chembur to commit a robbery at a jewellery shop.
