Lankan fisherman surrenders before police

Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, Mar 5 (UNI) A Sri Lankan fisherman whose was thrown into the water after his boat capsized in rough seas off the Mimisal Coast of this district surrendered before the local police yesterday.

Police said Saghaya Devaraj (44) of Neduntheevu in Jaffna ventured into the sea a couple of days back.

Strong winds and rough seas forced him to seek a diversion when his boat capsized. He then managed to reach the Mimisal Coast.

Inflation declines to 6.63 pc

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) The government's proactive role to curb the swelling price rise, has brought down the inflation rate slightly down to 6.63 per cent for the week ended February 10, from a record high of 6.73 per cent in the previous week. The decrease has been attributed to cheaper food articles. The Centre has set up a special monitoring cell to keep a daily watch on the price situation and provide support to state governments as required......

Sterlite Optical bags Rs 150cr contracts from PGCIL

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd today said it has received Rs 150 crore contracts from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) for supply of 400kV and 765kV power transmission conductors. The delivery of the orders, expected to commence within this month, is scheduled over the next 22 months.
