Kerala to acquire land for Techno City: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 5 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan told the Assembly today the government was taking steps to acquire 507 acre of land at Pallipuram in the district for setting up of a Techno City here.

For expediting the acquisition process, the project had been included in the fast track scheme, he said in a written reply.

Mr Achuthanandan said the master plan for the project was being prepared and once commissioned, Techno City would provide direct employment to one lakh people and indirect employment to another three lakh.

Various branches of Information Technology, Biotechnology,ITES and number of connected industries, educational institutions, business school, residential complex and shopping malls would be set up in the Techno-city, he added.

Tata Steel bags national safety awards for mines

Two male elephants die of electrocution

Mysore, Mar 5 (UNI) Two male elephants were killed after they came in contact with a live wire at Yelakkuru in Chamarajanagara District early today. Chamarajanagara forest officials said that in all four elephants had entered the farm land of Mariswamy near Santhemaralli last evening and had destroyed standing crops, including sugarcane. MK warns against attack on Indian fishermen by Lankan Navy

Chennai, Mar 5 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today warned against continuous attack on Indian fishermen by the Lankan Navy personnel.
