Kedia's bail plea rejected

Barasat, Mar 5 (UNI) A Sessions Court today rejected the bail plea of Xponse Director Sanjay Kedia, who has been remanded in judicial custody in a Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance case.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Sambhunath Chatterjee rejected the bail petition after a two-day hearing and remanded him to further judicial custody till March 19.

Kedia was arrested last month by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials for his alleged involvement in drug smuggling through his IT industry in Salt Lake.

Delhi to renotify MCD wards, SDC submits fresh draft formula

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) The State Delimitation Commission(SDC) today submitted a fresh draft formula before the Delhi High Court which would be the basis of reservation of constituencies for women and Scheduled caste(SC) candidates for the coming MCD election. Justice B D Ahmed directed the SDC to submit the fresh draft by the evening, on the basis of which the judgement would be pronounced tomorrow. SDC Counsel submitted that the commission had formulated a new method to reserve the constituencies......

Three from Rajasthan drown in Sharavati river

Shimoga, Karnataka, Feb 28 (UNI) Three youths hailing from Rajasthan drowned in the Sharavati river near the famous Jog Falls, about 140 km from here, today. Police said 13 carpenters from the desert State had come to Ramachandrapuram Mutt on the banks of the river for work. Three of them went to the backwaters of the Linganamakki dam to take a bath when they fell into the deep waters and drowned. The deceased were identified as Lakshman (18), Pawan Kumar (22).....

HC allows hotels to charge more for a water bottle

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today held that a hotel or restaurant could charge more than the maximum retail price (MRP) for a bottle of mineral water from a costumer. Justice Vikramajit Sen said, ''Charging prices for mineral water in excess of the MRP printed on the packaging, during the service of customers in a hotel and restaurant does not violate any of the provisions of the Standards of Weights and Measures Act(SWM Act), 1976.''
