JMM calls 12-hour bandh in Bengal tomorrow

Purulia, Mar 5 (UNI) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha today called a 12-hour bandh in north and south Bengal tomorrow, to protest yesterday's murder of party MP Sunil Mahto in Jharkhand.

Talking to newspersons here, JMM West Bengal State Committee President Ajit Prasad Mahata said they have delayed the bandh by a day because of the ongoing Madhyamik examination.

Meanwhile, the Purulia district police has alerted all the thana areas in adjoining Purulia and Jamshedpur in neighbouring Jharkhand in connection with the attack.

Purulia Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Prasad has confirmed tight security in and around the district border.

JMM general secretary Sunil Mahto and three of his bodygaurds were shot dead by suspected Maoists at Kesharpur in East Singbhum District last evening.

HC show cause to commissioner in Ayodhya civil suit

Lucknow, Feb 20 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today issued a show cause notice to Faizabad divisional commissioner in the Ayodhya civil suit. Asom to protect small tea growers

Guwahati, Mar 5 (UNI) The Asom Government today made it clear that their primary interest would be to protect the 50,000 small tea growers of Asom rather than handful of tea majors. Speed up investigation against IRCON engineers, CJM to J

Srinagar, Feb 20 (UNI) The crime branch of the Jammu and Kashmir police has submitted another progress report in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Srinagar, in connection with the allegations of sexual exploitation of policewomen by the police and IRCON officials. A senior officer of the Crime Branch (CB) submitted the report in the court confirming to have gathered evidence against the accused officials.
