J&K SRTC employees protest against government in Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 5 (UNI) The employees of the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) today took to streets alleging that they were not being paid their salaries and other benefits by the authorities.

About 1500 employees, including drivers, conductors, mechanics and other staff today gathered near the SRTC headquarter here.

They later marched through different streets including the busy Regal Chowk, Ganta Ghar and historic Lal Chowk carrying a ''coffin'' of the SRTC.

The employees alleged that they have not been paid their salaries by the authorities for the past three months. We are being paid two to three times in year, they alleged.

Demanding pension after their retirement, they further said that their GPF was not being paid to them at the time of emergency.

Raising anti- government slogans, the demonstrators dispersed peacefully.

ISI man in custody of Kutch police

Bhuj, Feb 22 (UNI) The Kutch police today said it had in its custody an ISI agent, arrested in Lucknow, who had operated here for one-and-half years. 23 passengers, caught in snow storm, rescued in north Kashmir

Baramulla, Mar 5 (UNI) Army and police rescued 23 passengers who were caught in a snow storm in north Kashmir late last night, official sources said.
