ICAEW to offer ACA in India

Mumbai, Mar 5 (UNI) The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England&Wales (ICAEW) today become the first UK accountancy professional body to deliver its ACA qualification in India.

Under an agreement with Tata Sons, the ICAEW will initially train 49 students who are being recruited into the Tata Graduate Accounts Trainee (GAT) programme from India's top universities, into seven Tata Group companies, an official statement said.

Seven rebels held, six arms recovered

Agartala, Mar 5 (UNI) Security forces nabbed seven militants of various outfits, including a banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) cadre, during the last 48 hours from different parts of the state. Police here today said, three militants, including a self-styled ''lance corporal'', were arrested by the security forces from Chawmanu police station area under Tripura's Dhalai district yesterday and four countrymade guns recovered from them. During the anti-insurgency operation launched by the security forces with Tripura State Rifles (TSR).....

Prime minister to honour city-based public sector unit

BSF jawan killed in accident

Agartala, Mar 5 (UNI) A BSF head constable was killed and five other security personnel were injured when a vehicle carrying them overturned in Tripura's Dhalai district yesterday, police today said. The vehicle moving from Raishyabari overturned and caught fire near Dyke no 9 killing head constable Joybir Singh (37) on the spot and injuring five others including an Inspector and driver of the four-wheeler. FM does not cede to industry demand for lowering corporate tax

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) Not ceding to industry's demand, Finance Minister P Chidambaram today ruled out reduction in the scheduled rate of corporate tax, saying that the effective rate of corporate tax was 19.2 per cent -- lower than any other Asian country. "In no Asian or ASEAN country is the effective rate of corporate tax as low as 19 per cent", Mr Chidambaram said in his address and the Question-Answer Session that followed with members of FICCI......
