HC dismisses petitions challenging ZP elections

Mumbai, Mar 5 (UNI) After the Supreme Court the Bombay High Court has also refused to entertain several writ petitions challenging different aspects of ensuing Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samitee elections in the state.

A division bench dismissed all the petitions challenging different aspects of the elections in view of a Supreme Court Judgment allowing no interference in the election process.

Akola, Mar 5 (UNI) Seven assailants stabbed a youth to death over an old enmity, in Akot file area here. The assailants yesterday stabbed Manoj Amrsing Sangrel (23), a sweeper, to death with a sharp edged spear several times at his residence in Bapu Nagar over old enmity, police said. The accused have been booked under sections 14, 147, 148, 149 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 4 (25) of Arms Act and section 135 of Bombay.....

Nagpur, Mar 5 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena alliance has captured power in Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), with its candidates being elected to the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor here today. Deorao Umredkar of the BJP was elected Mayor, polling 71 votes and defeating his only rival Deepak Pendam of the Republican Party of India (RPI), which is part of the Congress-NCP led Secular Democratic Front, who polled 60 votes. Man murdered in Nadiad

Nadiad, Gujarat, Mar 5 (UNI) A man was murdered, allegedly by three persons, at Dabhan village near here late last night. The victim has been identified as Dharmendra Shivji Paswan (28). He was allegedly attacked by three persons, identified as Ramesh, Satish and Bablu Rao, with pipes and sticks. Paswan was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Anand, Mar 5 (UNI) A man died after falling into a deep well today at Umreth's Sarvodaya Society, 20 km from here. The deceased Sanjaybhai Valabhai Waghri, 25, had gone to the well and was peering into it when he slipped and fell in, Dakor fire brigade officials, who fished out his body, said.
