Govt increases DA of MCH employees

Hyderabad, Mar 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Koneru Ranga Rao today announced that the government had enhanced the Dearness Allowance (DA) of all categories of employees and officers working in the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) from 14.13 per cent of the basic pay to 18.84 per cent with effect from July 1, 2006.

Making a statement under rule 74 on a notice given by Malreddy Ranga Reddy of the Congress in the assembly, the minister said the orders were issued on February 2, 2007 with directions to pay the DA in cash from the salary of February 2007, payable in March 2007 and to credit the arrears of the DA from July 1, 2006 to January 31, 2007 into the GPF account of the respective employees.

The matter was placed before the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad, he said.

Resolutions were also passed for releasing the enhanced DA vide resolution 370 dated February 7, 2007, he said adding that the same would be released by the end of April 2007.

The minister said the MCH was releasing the DA to all catagories of employees and officers periodically as per the orders of the Government after the approval of the Standing Committee.

Man enters high security air traffic control complex

Chennai, Mar 5 (UNI) A 40-year-old man created a flutter among the security personnel at the airport here at midnight last night when he entered the high security air traffic control (ATC) complex. Police said Murugesh, alias Murugesan, of a village near Tiruchirapalli somehow managed to gain entry into the high security area. However, the CISF personnel caught him and handed him over to the local police. The airport police arrested him. Murugesh was later remanded in judicial custody. UNI.....

House witnesses uproar over students issue, adjourns for day

Hyderabad, Mar 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the day today amid protest by the Opposition over the government denying of hall tickets to over 8000 junior college students for want of attendance. Making a statement in the House, Higher Education Minister P Venkateswara said students, who did not have 60 per cent attendance, were asked to pay either Rs 500 as fine or attend special classes during summers to compensate for loss of attendance and appear as private.....
