Four of family killed in accident near Vadodara

Vadodara, Mar 5 (UNI) Four members of a family were killed and another was seriously injured when a motorbike they were travelling collided head-on with a car at Gavashad village in Padra taluka near here.

Padra police said three of the victims--Arvind Padhiar (45), his wife Dhiraj (40) and their 12-year-old son Umang--died on the spot, while Padhiar's cousin Mahendra (21) succumbed to injuries at the SSG Hospital last night.

The condition of Padhiar's 17-year-old daughter Hetal, the lone surviving member of the family, was stated to be very critical.

The police said the family, resident of Pithaya village, was going to Padra town on the motorbike yesterday when the accident occurred.

''We are looking for the absconding car driver, who managed to escape, leaving the vehicle behind,'' the police said.

Tension runs high along Asom-Nagaland border

Kohima, February 20 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Anaki village in Mokokchung district along the Asom-Nagaland border two days after a team of Assom Police personnel allegedly, burnt down a few houses and detained six villagers. JMM calls 12-hour bandh in Bengal tomorrow

Purulia, Mar 5 (UNI) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha today called a 12-hour bandh in north and south Bengal tomorrow, to protest yesterday's murder of party MP Sunil Mahto in Jharkhand.
