Eight killed in accident

Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 5 (UNI) Eight people were killed when an auto, in which they were travelling, collided with a lorry at Mulkam in Mancherial mandal of this district this afternoon.

Deputy Superintendent of Police P Marthanda told UNI that while six people died on the spot, two succumbed to their injuries at Mancherial Government Hospital.

The auto, carrying eight people, including the driver, was proceeding to Laxettipet from Mancherial and the lorry was proceeding to Mancherial when the accident occurred.

The lorry driver was taken into custody, he added.

Child's body recovered from canal

Sangrur, Feb 22 (UNI) The body of a male child, wrapped in a sack, was recovered from a canal at Phummansingh village in this district today. The body of the boy, aged about 12 years, was found in the sack with his arms and legs tied with rope and mouth gagged, police said. Rebel BSP MLAs case hearing tomorrow

Allahabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today deferred hearing of a writ petition seeking disqualification of 24 remaining rebel BSP MLAs in the Uttar Pradesh assembly.
