Corruption to be wiped out in Civil Service: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 5 (UNI) As part of efforts in wiping out corruption in the state Civil Services, the government would take all measures to strengthen the functioning of State Vigilance and Corruption Bureau, Kerala Chief Minister told the Assembly today.

Steps had also been taken to expand surprise inspection by the Vigilance Bureau to more departments, he said in a written reply.

Mr Achuthanandan said the government had also taken initiatives to settle the old pending cases before the Vigilance at the earliest.

Steps were also being taken to strengthen the activities of the Vigilance Bureau in departments where corruption was comparatively higher than the other departments, he said and added that after collecting details about the corrupt officials, the Vigilance officials would maintain a keen watch over their activities.

National Grid will be enhanced to 37,000 MW BY 2012: Shinde

Completion of Kollam-Kottappuram waterway by 2008: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 5 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today informed the Assembly that the government was expecting to complete the proposed waterway between Kollam and Kottappuram by the middle of 2008.
