CM on 2-day poll tour of Vidarbha from tomorrow

Nagpur, Mar 5 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is on a two-day tour of Vidarbha from tomorrow to campaign for the party's candidates, who are contesting the March 11 elections to the Zilla Parishads (ZP) in this region.

Mr Deshmukh will arrive here tomorrow morning by a service flight from Mumbai, according to an official release here today.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to address campaign meetings at Hingna in Nagpur district in the morning and then proceed to Alapalli in Gadchiroli district by helicopter.

He will address public meetings at Alapalli, Chamorshi, Chandrapur and Durgapur in Chandrapur district during the day. In the evening, he will address a public meeting at Mauda in Nagpur district and in Nagpur city before camping for the night here.

Next day, Mr Deshmukh is scheduled to address public meetings at Talegaon and Nandgaon in Amravati district and Khamgaon and Chikhli in Buldhana district before proceeding to Aurangabad district, the release added.

The ZPs in Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Amravati, Buldhana and Yavatmal districts in Vidarbha are going to the polls on March 11.

Retired CS should probe illegal constructions in KDMC: HC

Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the state government to suggest the name of a retired chief secretary to head the proposed fact-finding committee to look into the illegal constructions in Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC). The state government had suggested the name of a retired divisional commissioner to inquire into the illegal constructions from April 1, 1996 to 2004. Madan Bhargad elected Mayor in AMC

Akola, Mar 6 (UNI) The newly elected Congress corporator and city Congress chief Madan Bhargad was today elected Mayor of Akola Municipal Corporation (AMC), defeating former BJP Mayor Sumantai Gawande by a margin of 25 votes. In the 71 member Akola Municipal Corporation, Bhargad secured 43 votes while his BJP rival Mrs Gawande got 18 votes, while the 10 member BRP-BMS group remained neutral. Nikhilesh Divekar, newly elected NCP corporator and son of late Arun Divekar, former minister, was elected Deputy.....

Junior doctors in NCH on strike on second day

Surat, Mar 6 (UNI) The Junior Doctors Association continued their strike for the second day today at the New Civil Hospital, over alleged assault of their colleague from the radiology department by relatives of a patient there, authorities said. The striking doctors met Hospital Superintendent M K Wadel and asked him to provide security cover to them, hospital sources said. The agitating doctors have alleged that such incidents have become a regular occurrence and the hospital authorities are not willing to.....
