Badal to meet people three days a week

Chandigarh, Mar 5 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will attend office at the state Civil Secretariat three days a week and will meet the people on those days from 1600 to 1700 hrs.

He will remain avaliable at his office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, an official spokesman said here today.

Mr Badal will meet the general public regularly on these three days from 1600 hrs to 1700 hrs for an on-the-spot redressal of the peoples' grievances. Senior government officers and heads of departments will be available at the Chief Minister's Office for dealing with the people's problems.

Official meetings and business will take place between 0900 to 1200 hrs. MPs, MLAs and other public representatives will be able to meet the Chief Minister from 1200 to 1330 hrs on these three days.

The spokesman said in case the Chief Minister is not available at his office because of other engagements, it would be intimated in advance to avoid inconvenience.

The Chief Minister has also requested all his Cabinet colleagues to be present in their respective offices during the three appointed days. The Chief Minister had also decided Cabinet meetings would be held regularly every fortnight.

Militant killed, jawan injured and grenade defused in J and K

Srinagar, Mar 5 (UNI) One militant was killed and a security jawan wounded while a grenade lobbed on security forces was defused in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said today. They said the militant was killed in an encounter that ensued after a search party was attacked by the ultras at Gund Jehangir in Sumbal area of north Kashmir district of Baramulla today. New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Delhi High Court today asked the Chief Wildlife Warden of Jammu and Kashmir, who appeared in person, to file his reply to the allegation in a petition relating to torture of 2000 animals during the shooting of Akbar Khan's 'Taj Mahal' in Ladakh in 2004.
