ACCI thanks Lalu for approving rail line survey

Itanagar, Mar 5 (UNI) Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industries(ACCI) has conveyed its gratitude to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for approving the survey of Tinsukia-Parsuram Kund rail line as pleaded in a memorandum on February 5.

''True to your promise at Chhapra on February 10 that the thrust of the new railway budget would be on improving rail connectivity to far-flung areas including North East, the 2007-08 Railway Budget delighted the people of this neglected region, particularly the land-locked state of Arunachal. and was a gift to the people of the state, especially the Nyishis, who were celebrating their most famous agricultural festival, Nyokum Yullo,'' ACCI general secretary Tarak Nachung Tariang said in a letter to Mr Prasad.

''While Union Minister of State for Trade and Commerce Jairam Ramesh deserve our thanks, DoNER Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar also deserves special mention for identifying himself with our nagging problems by stressing the need for extending railway network beyond Asom up to Pasighat in East Siang disrict for accelerating the development of Arunachal, the letter added.

The Chamber also conveyed gratitude to Chief Minister Gegong Apang who has been demanding better connectivity in Pasighat, Itanagar and other parts for speedy economic development in the state.

Highlighting the historical and mythological relevance of the state, the ACCI memo had said that the rail line would place Parsuram Kund in the global tourism and pilgrimage map and facilitate inflow of people from all over India.
