47 arrested for gambling in Jamnagar

Jamnagar, Mar 5 (UNI) At least 47 persons were arrested on charges of gambling at a club in Masitia village here today.

Police yesterday seized Rs 1.15 lakh in cash, an Indica car, 22 cell phones and two motorcycles from them, sources said.

The owner of the club however managed to flee, they added.

Retired CS should probe illegal constructions in KDMC: HC

Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the state government to suggest the name of a retired chief secretary to head the proposed fact-finding committee to look into the illegal constructions in Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC). The state government had suggested the name of a retired divisional commissioner to inquire into the illegal constructions from April 1, 1996 to 2004. Madan Bhargad elected Mayor in AMC

Akola, Mar 6 (UNI) The newly elected Congress corporator and city Congress chief Madan Bhargad was today elected Mayor of Akola Municipal Corporation (AMC), defeating former BJP Mayor Sumantai Gawande by a margin of 25 votes. In the 71 member Akola Municipal Corporation, Bhargad secured 43 votes while his BJP rival Mrs Gawande got 18 votes, while the 10 member BRP-BMS group remained neutral.
