3 pilgrims injured in road accident

Tirumala, Mar 5 (UNI) Three pilgrims were injured, one of them seriously, when the car in which they were travelling hit a parapet wall on the Tirumala-Tirupati road here today.

Police said the mishap occurred when they were coming down to Tirupati after visiting Venkateswara Swamy Temple here. Of the six occupants of the car, two escaped unhurt.

The seriously injured Srinivas Rao, hailing from Kukatpalli in Hyderabad, was admitted to Government Ruia Hospital in Tirupati.

Standing crops in about 60,000 hec affected by rains and hail

Hoshiarpur, Mar 16 (UNI) G S Sandhu, Financial Commissioner (Development), Agriculture Department, Punjab today said the recent torrential rains and hailstorm have destroyed or damaged standing crops, especially wheat, in an area from 55,000 to 60,000 hectares in the state. Out of this area, the major damage to the standing crops had occurred due to hailstorm in Ferozepur, Ludhiana and Patiala districts, Mr Sandhu told media persons here. Willow clefts being smuggled to other states from Kashmir,FCIK

Srinagar, Feb 20 (UNI) Concerned over the smuggling of willow clefts to other states from the Kashmir valley, the Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) has urged the state government to legalise the trade for promoting cricket bat industry and earning revenue. J and K Govt sanctions Rs 10.15 cr for agriculture development

Srinagar, Feb 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned Rs 10.15 crore aid for agriculture and allied services in Pulwama district under district plan for the year 2006-07, an official said. He said an expenditure to the tune of Rs 6.40 crore has been incurred an these services till January 2007. This included Rs 77.35 lakh an agriculture, Rs 156 lakh an T&V, Rs 81.32 lakh for horticulture, Rs 94.21 lakh an animal husbandry and Rs 127.48 lakh an.....
