23 passengers, caught in snow storm, rescued in north Kashmir

Baramulla, Mar 5 (UNI) Army and police rescued 23 passengers who were caught in a snow storm in north Kashmir late last night, official sources said.

They said an information was received in police station Karnah that 23 passengers, including four women and three children, in two Sumos were caught in snow storm at Sadhna top near Rekha-1.

A rescue team headed by Station House Officer (SHO Nasir Ahmad immediately rushed to the spot after seeking assistance from the Army, the sources added.

The rescue team took a few hours to reach the spot after covering the distance on foot because the road was closed due to heavy snowfall, the sources said.

Later, all the passengers, who were on their way to Tangdhar from Kupwara, were rescued and taken to Teetwal.

Similar joint operation was conducted at Sadhan Top when 43 passengers were caught in snow storm last week.

Explosives recovered from a train in Bihar

Munger, Feb 22 (UNI) Police today recovered five live bombs and explosives from a general coach of Upper India Express in Dhanauri station of Jamalpur-Kiul section under Maldah division of Eastern Railway.
