Youth beaten to death, tension in Yadgir

Gulbarga, Mar 4 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Yadgir Town in Gulbarga district of Karnataka following the death of a youth, after he was allegedly beaten up by a group of people belonging to a particular community last night.

Police said that the group were collecting contributions from traders for Holi festival. When the youth refused to give money the group started beating him. The youth after reaching home, collapsed and when he was taken to Hospital the doctors declared him dead.

This led to communal tension in the town. One battalion of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) was deployed in the town and the situation was stated to be tense but under control.

Superintendent of Police Manish Kharbakar told UNI that the situation is peaceful and no arrest had been made so far in connection with attack on the youth.

Two killed, forty injured in Nawada

Nawada, Mar 5 (UNI) Two people were killed and 40 others injured in separate incidents here during the past 24 hours. Police said a 12-year-old-boy was shot dead while seven members of a family were injured in a group clash at Nad village. In another incident a youth under town police station area died after consuming spurious liquor. In a clash among different rival groups at several places including Kumbhi, Gorapar, and Gambhirpur, at least 33 people sustained injuries. Four persons.....

Woman burnt alive by her husband

Hajipur, Mar 5 (UNI) In a gruesome act of barbarism, a woman was burnt alive by her husband rpt her husband with the help of his relatives on the occasion of Holikadahan at Bathadasi village under Rajapakar police station area in Vaishali district. Police here today said Punu Singh, along with his family members, set ablaze his wife Salja Devi near their house on Saturday when the entire village had gone for Holikadahan.
