Two UNLF militants shot dead in Manipur

Imphal, Mar 4 (UNI) Two United National Liberation Front (UNLF) cadres were shot dead by security forces at Aishi in Ukhrul district of Manipur.

Official sources said the UNLF cadres died yesterday following an encounter with Assam Rifles (AR).

The AR had launched an operation in the area a few days back.

Sources said one SLR with 40 live rounds and one radio set had been recovered.

The operation was still on, sources said.

Punjab Govt asks Cotton Consortium to adopt villages

Two persons killed by extremists under Longtharai Valley PS

Agartala, Mar 4 (UNI) A group of armed National Liberation Front of Tripura (BM) extremists raided Joychandra village and killed two villagers. The extremists shot and killed Tapan Kumar Tripura and Tirendra Tripura at Joychandra, about 14 km south-west from here, yesterday. It is alleged that about 4-5 months back, Tirendra Tripura was brought to Longtharai Valley police station for interrogation as he was suspected to be involved in NLFT activities, police sources said. Indian cellphone manaufacturing unit soon

Kozhikode, Mar 13 (UNI) Hongkong based-Digital Information Tehnology Studies Ltd (DITS), promoted by a Non-Resident Indian, proposes to set up a cellphone manufacturing unit, first of its kind in the country, very soon. As a preliminary step to implement the estimated Rs 115 million project, a separate outfit Information Technology Studies (India) Private Limited has already been incorporated, DITS chairman Prateesh V K told reporters here last night.
