Three persons kidnapped at gunpoint near Gandacherra PS

Agartala, Mar 4 (UNI) A group of armed extremists kidnapped two labourers and a truck driver at gunpoint on Jagabandhu Para main road, near Gandacherra police station last night.

At about 2200 hours, the extremists kidnapped the labourers Jiban Orao (23) and Bijay Orao (22), both from Ranchi, and the driver Pradip Debnath (20) of Kamalapur.

At the time of the incident, the victims were sleeping in their truck and were hence caught off-gaurd.

Later, the driver managed to escape from their captivity unhurt.

Subdivisional police officer, Gandaacherra and officer-in-charge, Gandacherra police station were conducting operations in the case.

Siemens PTD bags 170 million euros order from Power Grid

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) Siemens Ltd has announced that Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution (PTD) and consortium partner Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) have been awarded an order worth 235 million euros of which Siemens portion is about 170 million euros. Of this, Siemens PTD India will be executing a portion of the contract valued at around 28 million euros (Rs 162.5 crore). The order has been awarded by the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd to construct 2500 MW.....

Villagers in Alipurduar kill one bison; 5 more still on rampage

Coochbehar, Mar 4 (UNI) A bison was killed by villagers today when a herd of eight emerged from Chilapata forest and started plundering the surrounding villages in Alipurduar. Police said, meanwhile, the villagers have chased two of the animals back into the forest. However, the rest are still on a rampage in Kuntighat, Birpara and Poropara villages. The Forest Department personnel and police are now trying to bring the situation under control, sources added. UNI.....
