Temperatures begin to rise in HP

Shimla, Mar 4 (UNI) Coldwave conditions are abating in Himachal Pradesh with the sky remaining mainly clear over the entire state for the last three days.

Temperatures across the state are rising with the minimum at Shimla rising by four degrees to stand at 5.8 degree Celsius, the met office said.

The sky was mainly clear in the high altitude areas of the tribal districts after receiving snow and widespread rains in mid and lower hills of the state on Thursday.

The met office said the minimum temperature at Kalpa in Kinnaur rose to minus 3.5 degrees from a low of minus 5.6 degrees, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded night temperatures of 6.1 and five degree Celsius.

Yesterday, the state capital recorded maximum temperature of 14.6 degree Celsius after recording a day temperature of 10 degree Celsius on Friday.

Warm conditions were being held in mid and lower hills of the state with people discarding their woolens.

The met office has predicted mainly clear sky over the state during the next 24 hrs.

Minor abducted, gangraped in Roorkee

Hardwar, Mar 16 (UNI) A minor was allegedly abducted and gangraped in Roorkee. The victim, a resident of Migran Mohalla, Civil Lines here, was missing since last Wednesday, souces said. On returning home yesterday, she reportedly told her parents that two youths, Rashid and Intzar, had abducted her from Solani Bridge in the city. They then took her to a room in a mosque near the graveyard, where they repeatedly raped her throughout the night and sent her home the next.....

IRP jawan dies after a fall from hill in Kathua

Jammu, mar 4 (UNI) A Indian Reserve Police (IRP) jawan today died after he fell from a hill during a search operation at Kanjli Dhar under police station Malhar in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said. Constable Farooq Ahmed fell down from Kathali hill of Kanjli Dhar, during a joint operation launched by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and IRP, sources said. The jawan, who belonged to the 2nd IRP Bn, died on the spot, they added. UNI.....

Time not ripe for demilitralisation in J

Srinagar, Mar 4 (UNI) Dismissing reports about an immediate demilitralisation of Jammu and Kashmir in the near future, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that time was not ripe for such a move.'' Addressing a public meeting at Uri, about 100 km from here in north Kashmir yesterday, Mr Azad said once peace was visible on the ground in the state, withdrawal of troops will automatically follow. Immediate demilitarization was not possible when innocent people are being killed,'' he said, adding.....
