RTC employees to organise mass dharnas in AP

Hyderabad, Mar 4 (UNI) Demanding that the government cancel the permission granted to private bus operators in Andhra Pradesh, National Mazdoor Union (NMU) President N A Khan today said a large number of state owned Road Transport Corpoation (RTC) workers would participate in agitation programmes at all mandal and district headquarters from March five to eight.

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Khan said the union would organise dharnas and stage demonstrations to protest against the government's 'anti-RTC development' policies.

The RTC workers would block private buses plying from the districts to the capital city during the agitation, Mr Khan said the workers would participate in a mass hunger strike on March seven in the city.

Villagers refuse to accept Govt help in fire tragedy

Puducherry, Mar 4(UNI) The villagers of Davidpet near here, where 327 huts were gutted in a fire yesterday, refused to accept the Government assistance. Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy visited the village well past midnight and consoled the affected. They demanded that the Government provide them Rs One lakh under the 'Perumthalaivar Kamaraj Housing Scheme' to construct houses and accept any Government assistance expressed their refusal to other than Rs One lakh. Mr Rangasamy said a decision would be taken.....

Itanagar, Feb 25 (UNI) Tender submissions for Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutkaran Yojna (RRGVY) at Seppa, in East Kameng district, is alleged to have been rigged and manipulated to suit vested interests. In a written complaint to Chief Minister Gegong Apang, Arunachal Congress general secretary LK Yangfo claimed that his attempt to submit the tender papers on the appointed day, on February 23 last, at the office of the Seppa power executive engineer was prevented by some miscreants owing allegiance reportedly to.....

CII urges HP for removal of tax collection barriers at borders

Shimla, Feb 25 (UNI) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has urged the Himachal Pradesh Government to remove tax collection barriers at the state borders to facilitate business in the hill state. The Industry body has handed over a wish list to the government over the weekend, ahead of the state budget to be presented here on March 5, state unit of CII Chairman Rajendra Guleria said in a statement here. ''The government needs to remove barriers set up for collecting.....
