Police to move court to freeze 'fake' Bishop's property

Chennai, Mar 4 (UNI) The Crime Branch-CID wing of the city police has decided to file a petition against self-styled Bishop Yobu Saravanan to get his property, worth Rs four crore, attached.

The CB-CID sources said today they will auction the 11 luxury cars seized from the Bishop to settle the dues of the building contractors.

Yobu Saravanan had cheated over 350 building contractors in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states by promising to build houses for the poor under the Vellore-based Calvary Mission Trust.

Following complaints by the affected building contractors, the CB-CID police arrested the Bishop and his accomplice Rajendran.

Eleven luxury cars and Rs 2.5 crore in cash were seized from him at the time of his arrest.

His close aides Soundararajan and Paalravi Sanjeevi were also arrested recently and four luxury cars and Rs 15 lakh were seized from them.

Actor's body found in railway track

Chennai, Mar 4 (UNI) Mystery shrouds the death of a small time film and TV actor Mahendran (44), whose body was found on the railway track at suburban Korukkupet here today. Police sources said the body bore injuries on the head. It was not known whether he had faller from a train. Family sources suspect it to be a murder. Tightened security in place to prevent explosives smuggling

Myanmarese found dead in ship's cabin

Chennai, Mar 4 (UNI) A Myanmarese national on board an Indonesian vessel M T Spring Glory, which docked at the Chennai harbour yesterday, was found dead in his cabin. The crewman, Harwin Myind (37), working as an electric engineer, had died due to a heart attack, when the ship was 18 nautical miles away from the Port, according to doctors on board the ship. The ship came to Chennai from Singapore after loading Palm oil there. The body was sent.....
