'Intro chapter on all religion in school syllabus'

Bangalore, Mar 4: Bandhura Mukti Morcha Chairman Swami Agniveshtoday called for inclusion of a chapter on all religion in the countryin the School syllabus to impart knowledge on different religion to thestudents.

Delivering a talk on 'Combating new faces of fascism' organised byForum for Democracy and Communal Amity here, he said that the studentsshould learn about all religion right from the beginning so that by thetime they pass out they would have better knowledge and fight againstmisuse of religion by vested interests.

Swami Agnivesh also called for bringing together all religiousheads to a common platform and chalk out common minimum program tocombat fascism.

"When political parties can come together to share the power as ithappened with National Democratic Alliance and now United ProgressiveAlliance, why not all religious heads learn lesson and come together tofight against elements which are creating communal tension in thecountry", he questioned.

He said that battling against female foeticide should be firststep to fight against communal forces. "We should come together tofight against Dowry, which is present in all religion and largelylinked with foeticide. Cast system and Communalism are two faces of acoin we should eliminate both."

JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Mar 4 (Reuters) After a suicide bomber attacked their military convoy in Afghanistan today, US troops opened fire and killed eight civilians and wounded more than 30, Afghan police said. Four oil workers killed in Algeria bus attack

ALGIERS, Mar 4 (Reuters) Three Algerians and a Russian were killed in a roadside attack on a bus carrying workers for a Russian gas pipeline construction company, the Russian Foreign Ministry today said.
