Holi, Holla Mohalla celebrated in Punjab

Chandigarh, Mar 4 (UNI) 'Holi', the festival of colours, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety throughout Punjab, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh today as people poured colours on each other exchanged greetings on the occasion.

Since early morning, children were out on the streets, spraying colours on their friends and pedestrians.

'Pichkaris,' appearing as replicas of cell phones, cars, guns, cameras, and Spiderman, were used during the celebrations.

In small groups, the holi revellers were seen spraying colours and smearing the faces of their friends and even passers-by.

The Holla Mohalla festival, was celebrated with traditional fervour at Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the 'Khalsa'. Devotees in large numbers paid obeisance at the historic Keshgarh Sahib gurdwara, while 'Nihangs' in their brightly coloured robes exhibited their 'gatka' (martial arts) skills and displayed breath-taking stunts on horse-back.

Jaypee joins Power Grid to setup 1,000 MW at Rs 600 cr

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) Jaiprakash Hydro Power Limited (JHPL), has entered into a joint venture (JV) with Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for setting up a transmission system associated with 1,000 MW Karcham Wangtoo Hydroelectric Project at a cost of Rs 600 crore. The JV company will be called Jaypee Powergrid Limited, wherein JHPL shall hold 74 per cent of the equity and the balance 26 per cent will be held by PGCIL. The MoU for this JV.....

Two die in snow-covered valley

Shimla, Mar 4 (UNI) Two severely ill people, including a five-year-old stranded for 10 days in Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh have died, police and official sources said. 5 killed, 4 injured in UP road mishaps

Lucknow, Mar 4 (UNI) At least five persons were killed and four others grievously injured in separate road accident during the last 24 hrs in Uttar Pradesh. Police said an accident took place in Sampoornagar area of Lakhimpur Kheri, where two persons were killed and three others seriously injured after being hit by a speeding bus today. Irked over the incident, a mob staged a 'dharna' in Sampoornagar area and torched the bus, They could only be pacified after police reached.....
