A Journalist and his wife arrested on defamatory charges

Mangalore, Mar 4 (UNI) A Journalist of an eveninger 'Karavali Ale' and his wife and Managing Director of the group of publication were arrested on the charges of defamatory writings on Jain Digambar Munis.

Panambur Police arrested Journalist B V Sitharam and his wife Rohini last night on a complaint filed by Jain Association Office bearer Rajavarma Ballal who had alleged that 'Karavali Ale' had published derogatory writings on nude munis on jain community.

The arrested were remanded to judicial custody till March Five.

Farmer's co-operative loans of Rs 10,000 to be remitted: CM

Ranchi, Mar 15 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today said farmers owing co-operative loan of worth Rs 10,000 with their interest would be remitted. Intervening into the reply of Congress member Manoj Yadav's starred question, Mr Koda said the step had been taken to give the farmers relief adding Rs 1.47 crores had been provided to the department for the purpose. Leader of Opposition Arjun Munda said it is to be seen whether the government would remit the loan taken.....

Asian governments to open skies in 2007: CAPA

Sydney, Mar 15 (UNI) The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) has predicted that aviation liberalisation will regain momentum in 2007. ''The only thing preventing economic expansion for millions of people in Asia, especially in regional centres, is the constricting grip of government aviation policy,'' said its executive chairman Peter Harbison. Past logjams have been caused by government inertia but led by India and China, the liberalisation of aviation access in Asia in 2007 is set to regain some.....

Submerged ancient temple's reincarnation almost complete

Mysore, Mar 4 (UNI) Once submerged in the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) reservoir waters of river Cauvery, the magnificent 12th century Venugopalaswamy temple, relocated on the backwaters of Hosakannabadi village, will be rededicated in the coming months. It was during the second decade of the last century that the imposing shrine, near here, literally met with a watery grave as the KRS was constructed to impound water for irrigation in the Cauvery basin districts.
