5 killed, 4 injured in UP road mishaps

Lucknow, Mar 4 (UNI) At least five persons were killed and four others grievously injured in separate road accident during the last 24 hrs in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said an accident took place in Sampoornagar area of Lakhimpur Kheri, where two persons were killed and three others seriously injured after being hit by a speeding bus today.

Irked over the incident, a mob staged a 'dharna' in Sampoornagar area and torched the bus, They could only be pacified after police reached the spot.

In Santkabirnagar, two persons were killed and another severly injured after a tractor-traolley, carrying them, overturned in Muhali area late last night.

In a separate incident, a boy was crushed to death by a tractor-trolley under Jarwal police station area in Bahraich today.

Agitated by the incident, villagers set afire the house of the tractor owner in Purwe village.

Cases were registered.

Chandigarh, Feb 23 (UNI) The Haryana Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (Hafed) has initiated contract farming in association with the Haryana Seeds Development Corporation (HSDC) in Karnal, Kaithal and Kurukshetra districts in kharif-2006. Terminal Marketing Complexes to come up in TN

Tiruchirapalli, Feb 23 (UNI) In a bid to give a fillip to agro products and perishables marketing, the government will establish Terminal Market Complexes (TMC) at Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore shortly, a top official today said. Delivering his inaugural address at the VI Edition of the 'AGRICON,' the annual agricultural conference of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here, Tamil Nadu Agriculture Department Special Secretary Jatindranath Swain said the TMCs would function as a one-stop facility for perishables and agro-products......

Pony Admn raises contract doctors salary in GGH

Puducherry, Mar 4 (UNI) The Puducherry administration has enhanced the salary of contract doctors working in the Government General Hospital here. According to an official release here, the salary of specialist doctors was being enhanced to Rs 24,000 from Rs 20,000 and that of general doctors to Rs 16,000 from Rs 12,000. The enhancement would be with retrospective effect from January one this year and 16 specialist doctors and 97 general doctors would be benefitted. The increase in salary would incur.....

Arrangements made for smooth conduct of public exam

Hyderabad, Mar 4 (UNI) All arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the intermediate public examination in the state from tomorrow. The second year public examination will start from March six. In all 15.13 lakh candiates (both vocational and general) stream would appear for the public examination in 1981 colleges, selected as examination centres, an official release said here today. In twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, 154 examination centres were constitued. As many as 7.01 lakh regular candidates.....
