Pune, Mar 4 (UNI) As many as 251 youth, including 27 girls, were arrested for taking drugs at a party in a private hotel in Khanapur near here in the wee hours today.
It is believed that the cost of the drugs seized could range upto Rs three crore.
Acting on a tip-off, about 30 constables, including 10 lady police personnel in plain clothes, joined the party and later raided the premises. They arrested college-going girls and boys who had come from different parts of the country. There were some local students as well. Some participants flew down specially for the party, Rural Superintendent of Police Vishwas Nangre Patil told reporters.
The possibility of an international drug syndicate cannot be ruled out as there were some foreigners present as well, while one Irish national, who has been identified, is absconding. There is already a red corner notice against this person, Mr Patil informed adding that the advertisement for the 'rave party' was put out on the website 'isratrance.com' under the Orkut portal.
