Six killed in accident

Krishnanagar, Mar 3 (UNI) At least six people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between two vehicles on NH-34 at Ghatagachi near Ranaghat police station this morning.

Police said the incident occurred when an oil tanker collided with a car, carrying five passengers, who were on their way to Mayapur for celebrating Holi.

While three women and two children died on the spot, the driver of the car succumbed to his injuries in the sub-divisional hospital. The injured were taken to a local hospital.

All the deceased belonged to Central Kolkata, police added.

Kolkata, Mar 14 (UNI) A correspondent and a cameraman of a Bengali television channel were allegedly kidnapped by miscreants while covering the Nandigram incidents in East Midnapore district yesterday. Krishnanagar, Mar 3 (UNI) The toll in the head-on collision between two vehicles on NH-34 at Ghatagachi today rose to seven, with one more person succumbing to his injures in the hospital. Police said the three injured, including a child, were brought to Kolkata for treatment and the child died in the hospital later. One person kidnapped

Agartala, Mar 14 (UNI) A tribal villager was kidnapped at gunpoint from Jamtilla under Khowai police station yesterday. Police sources said four armed militants, led by Rinku Debbarma of Champahower, raided the house of Akhil Debbarma at Jamtilla, about 13 km south east from police station last night, and kidnapped him.
