Rains likely in WB, Sikkim and NE states

Pune, Mar 3 (UNI) Rain or snow are likely to occur at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim and at isolated places in Orissa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andman and Nicobar Islands. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat region, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Assam and Meghalaya and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal and Orissa, east Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the Jharkhand, Bihar, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat region, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and above normal in some parts of Kashmir, coastal Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

They were appreciably to markedly below normal in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, north Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and in some parts of north Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and in remaining parts of Gujarat and were below normal in south Madhya Maharashtra and in some parts of Chhattisgarh and interior Karnataka.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of Uttarakhand, south Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, south Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and were normal in some parts of Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat state, coastal and south interior Karnataka and Kerala. They were appreciably above normal in some parts of Tamil Nadu and normal in some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Kolhapur, Mar 14 (UNI) A criminal was stabbed to death with sharp weapons at Jawaharnagar here today and four persons were arrested in this connection. The deceased, identified as Rahul Chavan (33), was a history-sheeter, police said. Western Railway grants compensation to 143 blast victims

Mumbai, Mar 3 (UNI) The Western Railways' Fast Track Railway Claims Tribunal has so far granted compensation to 143 victims of the serial blasts that rocked Mumbai's lifeline on July 11 last year. As many as 169 cases of death claims were filed in the Fast Track Tribunal.
