North East Agriculture Fair in Meghalaya

Shillong Mar 3 (UNI) A two-day North East Agriculture Fair will begin at Barapani ICAR Research Complex on Monday, where about 100 farmers from all the North Eastern Region, are expected to participate.

Different research and educational institutions, developmental organisations, financial and marketing companies have put up stalls to apprise the farming community about technological and developmental options for the benefit of the farming community.

National seminar on development of Agricultural Extention strategies for North Eastern region would be organised, supported by Chennai-based International Extension Forum.

Academicians and experts from the field would also participate in the seminar.

The organisers have planned to start interactive sessions with the farming community so that they get solutions to problems faced by farmers of the region, either instantly or later.

Besides this, films shows, farm visits, projection and explanation of the use of computer-aided software, particularly on acid soil treatment, citros rejuvenation, nutrient fertility management, pest and animal disease diagnosis, developed by ICAR for NE region have been planned.

Indian doctor to invest Dh900 mln in healthcentres in UAE

Dubai, Mar 3 (UNI) An Indian medical doctor and entrepreneur, whose company manages 40 healthcare centres and pharmacies in the UAE, will invest more than Dh900 million for setting up 60 more outlets across the region, including 10 hospitals. Great India Bustard population declining in Rajasthan

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) The population of the great Indian bustard is declining in its natural habitat in Rajasthan, according to the Ministry of Environment and Forests. The reason for the fall in numbers was biotic pressure and degradation and reduction in natural grassland habitat, the Ministry said.
