MP bypol: Cong demands CRPF in Gwalior

Gwalior, Mar 3 (UNI) Apprehen ding violence during the march 8 Gwalior parliamentary constituency bypoll, All India Congress Committee General Secretary and incharage of state affairs V Narayansamy, today demanded that Central Reserve Police Force personnel be stationed here.

''The law and order situation deteriorated during the Bharatiya Janata Party's tenure. For winning the byelection by hook or crook, the BJP might not only misuse the administrative machinery but also capture polling centres and indulge in other forms of violence,'' he alleged before journalists in this citadel town.

Congress leaders Suresh Pachauri, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Sushil Kumar Shinde and Avtar Singh Bhadana would also come here to drum up support for party nominee Ashok Singh.

According to sources the nominations will be filed tomorrow and the Mayor will be elected on March 10. In the House of strong 227, Shiv Sena-BJP alliance is very close to simple majority. Concession to MP jailbirds on Women's Day

Bhopal, Mar 6 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to waive the remaining sentences of certain categories of female prisoners on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, official sources said. Those sentenced to life terms after December 18, 1978, those who have served 14 years and those who have served half their terms until March 8, 2007 would be freed. However, the Jail Department would not grant the concession to offenders investigated under the Delhi Police Establishment.....

'BJS to play major role in formation of next UP govt'

Mahoba, Mar 5 (UNI) The Bhartiya Jan Shakti (BJS) today claimed it will play a prominent role in the formation of the next government in Uttar Pradesh. ''The BJS would field candidates on 50 seats in the forthcoming Assembly polls,'' party president Uma Bharti said while addressing a gathering here. She, however, ruled out any possibility of being a part of the government. ''I will extend my support to only that party which is serious about the construction of a grand.....
