Minister urges PM, Lalu to extend train service to Vizag

Visakhapatnam, Mar 3 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Mines T Subbarami Reddy today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to extend the Raipur-Secunderabad 'Garib Rath' train service to Visakhapatnam.

In letters addressed to them, he said Visakhapatnam district was being neglected in railway development, though the city was expected to get an investment of Rs 40,000 crore in the coming years.

Dr Reddy said Visakhapatnam was a fast growing city and infrastructure for the railways needed a development to promote the industrialisation process .

He also favoured the extension of Puri-New Delhi ''Purshottam'' express to Visakhapatnam. The thrice-a-week New Delhi to Visakhapatnam ''Samata'' express should be operated daily and also the Bhubaneswar-Chennai weekly express, he added.

TN allotted only four districts under NREGS: Association

Chennai, Mar 10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Farmers Employees' Association today said the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram in his recent budget had allotted only four districts in Tamil Nadu under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) implemented last year. AP Minister assures enquiry into assault on journalist

Hyderabad, Mar 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today assured a delegation of working journalists and representatives of the electronic media that he would order an enquiry by an officer of the rank of DIG of police into alleged attack on the representative of local TV channel. Representatives of Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Union (APUWJ) and AP Electronic Media Journalists Association (APEMJA) today took out a rally protesting against the alleged attack on a mediaperson.
