Marketing strategy contest for TN college students

Chennai, Mar 3 (UNI) The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) and Kaybase, a leading corporte research firm, held a contest for college students in the city to devise a unique marketing strategy for 'Fun and Focus', the online children's magazine run by Kaybase.

The contest was aimed at motivating students to think innovatively and encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship among the student community.

Of the 100 students from different colleges who participated in the week-long event, five made it to the finals today.

An eminent panel of judges including Henkel India Managing Director and CEO S Ramachander, Leading Strategic Consultant and Kaybase Director R Ashok selected the winners in the finals.

Velammal College of Management Studies was decleared winner of the contest while Women's Christian College named as the runner-up, who took away a cash prize of Rs 200 and Rs 1000 respectively along with various gift hampers and merit certificates.

PNB revises interest rates on deposit schemes

Kozhikode, Mar 3 (UNI) The public sector Punjab National Bank has revised interest rates on ''PNB Mahabachat'' and ''PNB Tax Saver Deposit Scheme'' with effect from March 1 this year. The new rates on PNB Mahabachat were 9.50 per cent for deposits of one year to less than two years, 9.25 per cent for two to less than three years and nine per cent for three years, said a PNB release here today. Govt sets up cell to monitor prices

Guntur, Mar 3 (UNI) Concerned about the price rise of essential commodities, the Andhra Pradesh government has set up a cell in Hyderabad to monitor the prices of 14 commodities, including rice cooking gas, pulses, onions, cooking oils, petrol and diesel. Andhra Pradesh civil supplies commissioner C N Rao today interacted with the civil supplies officials, rice millers and doll millers of Guntur, Prakasham, Nellore districts here. He asked them to ensure that the 14 commodities were sold in retail outlets.....

Goa envisages higher growth performance in the 11th Plan

Panaji, Mar 7 (UNI) Goa, which witnessed bouyancy in revenue collection and expenditure during the concluding 10th Five Year Plan (2002-07), hopes to witness ''much higher performance'' in the 11th Plan period beginning on April 1 this year. Progressively rising expenditure during the successive annual plans in the 10th Plan period is a ''measure of confidence in the growth potential of the state's economy that much higher performance is being envisaged during the 11th Five Year Plan,'' says the Economic Survey.....
