Maoists blast bridge, traffic struck

Hyderabad, Mar 3 (UNI) Maoists trigerred a blast on a bridge connecting Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring Chhattisgarh near Rontentha in Khammam district this morning.

Police said vehicular traffic had come to a standstill following the blast.

The Maoists had obstructed construction of the bridge, but the adminstration went ahead with the construction and completed it at the cost of Rs 30 lakh, considering the villagers demand.

21 IIM-K students bag lucrative jobs abroad

Kozhikode, Mar 3 (UNI) Twenty one students from the premier B-School, Indian Institute of Management (Kozhikode), have bagged lucrative jobs abroad for whopping salary tags ranging from 85,000 US Dollar to 1.10 lakh US Dollar per annum. The offers were received from Olam International, Infosys Technologies, Wipro Technologies, Patni Computers, Cognizant and RPG Group for placements in the US, Europe, Middle East and inthe Asia-Pacific Region, said an IIM-K release here today. Minister urges PM, Lalu to extend train service to Vizag

Visakhapatnam, Mar 3 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Mines T Subbarami Reddy today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to extend the Raipur-Secunderabad 'Garib Rath' train service to Visakhapatnam. In letters addressed to them, he said Visakhapatnam district was being neglected in railway development, though the city was expected to get an investment of Rs 40,000 crore in the coming years. Dr Reddy said Visakhapatnam was a fast growing city and infrastructure for the railways needed.....

Capacity enhancement for teachers stressed

Mysore, Mar 3 (UNI) Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Vice-Chancellor Prof V N Rajashekharan Pillai today emphasised the need for embedded technology for teaching stbb to ensure quality higher education to ensure the overall development of the country. Delivering the keynote address at a national conference on quality assurance in open distance learning institutions, organised by the Karnataka State Open University here, he said improvement of capacity was necessary for teachers, right from kindergarten to college level.
