'Maasi Magam' celebrated

Puducherry, Mar 3 (UNI) A large number of devotees today thronged the Vaithikuppam Beach here to worship deities from different temples in and around Puducherry on the occasion of 'Maasai Magam.' As may as 73 deities, including Ginjee Ranganathar and Mylam Murugar, were brought to the beach where "Theerthavari" was performed.

Police have made elaborate security arrangements to maintain law and order during the festival.

Several voluntary organisations had arranged 'Annadanam' and drinking water facilities to the devotees coming to the beach.

AP to give priority to rural infrastructure: CM

Agriculture Ministry sanctions Rs.81.86 crore to N-E states

Shillong, Mar 8 (UNI) The Union Ministry of Agriculture has released Rs 81.86 crore to the North Eastern States during 2006-07, under the Centrally-Sponsored Scheme on Technology Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture in North Eastern Region. Settlement Commission to be spruced up, no sops: FM

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today asked India Inc to desist from seeking fiscal sops to maintain the current bullish growth momentum and said the Settelment Commission will be streamlined to improve the time period in disposing off cases.
