IGNOU fixes completion ceiling of 8 years for management:programmes

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has fixed completion ceiling of eight years in management programmes for 3.80 lakh students registered between 1987 and 2006 cycle of admissions.

An IGNOU official today said all the students who were registered in the management programmes in July 2003 cycle or thereafter must complete the requirement for the award of degree or diploma within the prescribed maximum duration.

''If the candidates fail to comply with these guidelines, they will need to seek fresh admission to complete the leftout course,'' he added.

The management programmes earlier had a ''no time bar'' and could be completed in a minimum period of two-and-a-half years without any ceiling on completion.

For the students who registered in the management programmes in January 2003 session or before are required to complete their courses by December 2010 term end examination.

The official said the students can visit the university website www.ignou.ac.in for more information on the management and other programmes.

Over 37% Indian women suffer spousal violence

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) Despite passage of a legislation to provide succour to women affected with domestic violence, over 37 per cent married women suffer from this social menace. 19-yr-old arrested for trying to rape pregnant woman

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) A 19-year-old has been arrested by the police for allegedly trying to rape a pregnant woman, whose husband works in a multi-national company, in Sarai Rohilla area of North Delhi. Accused Nanu Gupta, tenant of the victim, who lived next door tried to outrage the modesty of the woman at about 1130 hrs yesterday when nobody was at her Padam Nagar home in Sarai Rohilla, said sources.
