Holi security in MP

Bhopal, Mar 3 (UNI) Tight security arrangements are in place in Madhya Pradesh on the eve of the Festival of Colours and more than 2,000 police personnel are stationed in the state capital alone.

Besides, Holika Dahan (ritual lighting of bonfires) at more than 700 locations, poetry conventions and other programmes are scheduled here today. People flocked to markets for buying colour and sweets.

The Department of Forests set up more than a dozen depots for supplying wood.

''Four companies of the Special Armed Force, one each of the Rapid Action Force and Special Task Force have also been deployed,'' said Superintendent of Police Anant Kumar Singh.

Railways records 57,000 online bookings on a single day

Mumbai, Mar 3 (UNI) The Railways created a record of sorts by selling 57,000 tickets online and collecting maximum earnings on a single day on March 1. A Western Railway (WR) release here today said the booking was most likely the single largest transaction on the internet by any organisation in India on a single day. On an average, normally 20,000 - 25,000 tickets are booked daily, the release added. UNI.....

Two electrocuted in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Mar 3 (UNI) Two people were electrocuted and 20 others sustained injuries when a bus, in which they were travelling, came into contact with a live electric wire near Rani Brajraj High School under Rafiganj police station in Aurangabad district today. Police said the ill-fated bus was on its way to Kasma village from Rafignaj when the incident took place.
