GoM holds direct peace talks with Naga leaders in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) A Group of Ministers (GoM) led by Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes, today held a direct talk with NSCN-IM leaders to find a permanent and lasting solution to the decade-old Naga issue.

According to official sources, the meeting was attended by Minister of State for Home Affairs S Regupathy, Minister of State for PMO Prithviraj Chavan, Home Secretary V K Duggal and former Home Secretary turned Interlocutor K Padmanabhaiah.

The Naga delegation at the meet was led by its leaders Th Muivah along with Rh Raising, Tongmeth Wangnao and V Tuccu.

The meeting started at 1030 hrs and lasted for about 90 minutes.

The last talk was held at Amsterdam between October 17 to 19, 2006. This is for the first time that the Naga peace talks was held in India.

Last time, the Naga leaders were in the capital in December, 2006 on a private trip mainly for the renewal of their visas.

The leaders were keen on having a meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at that time but as he was busy the meeting could not be held, the sources added.

CPI (Maoist) Area Commander of neighbouring Bihar Chote Lal was arrested following specific tip off from Chakia crossing early today, Police Superintendent of Chandauli district Pravin Kumar told UNI. Parliamentary panel raps Govt for delay in scholarship disbursal

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) A Parliamentary Committee has asked the Ministry of Human Resource Development to cut short the delay in disbursal of scholarships to non-Hindi speaking students for post-matric studies in the language. ''Considerable time is being taken in the disbursal of scholarships which defeats the very purpose for which the scheme has been formulated,'' said the Department-Realted Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource Development in its 187th report tabled in Parliament. Weathermen predicts pleasant Holi in Rajasthan

Jaipur, March 3 (UNI) Holi is likely to be pleasant tomorrow with the weather office predicting a dry spell over the next 24 hours. According to the meteorological office, the western disturbance has headed towards northern Pakistan. However, the temperature fluctuations continued in the state and is accompanied by cold winds which made the weather pleasant and comfortable. The state capital continued to be cold. The temperatures have been dipping over the past two days here, mapping 10.1 degree Celsius today......
